NOAA at IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016

For the first time, the IUCN World Conservation Congress will be hosted in the United States--in Honolulu, Hawai’i. The congress is the largest recurring conservation event in the world, bringing together leaders from government, civil society and business from around the world to discuss pressing conservation issues.

During the congress forum, September 2-5, NOAA leadership, scientists and experts will be showcasing the agency's commitment to robust science and ocean protection in the Pacific and throughout the nation. The ocean is our life support system. NOAA works to protect it by regulating and sustaining marine fisheries, protecting endangered marine species, protecting and restoring habitats and ecosystems, and conserving marine sanctuaries and other protected places.

Whether you're attending in person or following along online, learn more about NOAA activities at the congress. We've provided some resources here that highlight NOAA's involvement and our efforts to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans and coasts, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources, helping to make communities more resilient.
