Due to the prevailing current, weather conditions and numerous natural hazards, there are a significant number of shipwrecks in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. These submerged wrecks create artificial reef habitat and attract marine life, creating popular spots for divers to explore natural and cultural resources. (photo: Glenn Allen)
