Sanctuary biologists conduct research, coral reef and seagrass damage assessments, and coral reef and seagrass restoration. Damaged by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992, this pillar coral (Dendrogyra cylindrusn) has been successfully transplanted and its growth rate is measured yearly by Sanctuary biologists.
