This web balloonfish is one of the hundreds fish surveyed both on SCUBA and during submersible dives. This animal has the capability of filling itself up with water when it feels threatened - this increases the animal's size, as well as causes spines to point straight out of the animal's body. If a predator should try to eat him, the spines will pierce the attacker's mouth, and should persuade the predator to release the pufferfish. (Photo: Emma Hickerson- FGBNMS)
