Dense stands of kelp cover large areas along the rocky Olympic coastline, thriving in up to 60 feet of water. These areas are home to the Sanctuary's population of sea otters, reintroduced in 1969 and 1970 after being hunted out in the early 1900s. (photo: Olympic Coast NMS)
