Catherine Marzin
National Partnership Coordinator
NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuary Program

Catherine Marzin is the National Partnerships Coordinator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Marine Sanctuary Program.  Prior to assuming this position, Catherine staffed the NOAA leadership on strategic planning and satellite issues for three years and represented NOAA's environmental satellite program on the international arena.

She has been involved in the NOAA-Navy Hunt for the Alligator, the first US Navy Submarine, since last May when she discovered the blueprints of the Alligator at the French Service Historique de la Marine.  Areas of current research include building a history of the Alligator,  and developing partnerships with interested organizations to increase the success of the hunt for the Alligator and to raise the awareness of the American public on this forgotten part of their maritime history.

She was a Dean John A. Knauss Sea Grant Fellow at the Oceanographer of the Navy in 1996, a program sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Sea Grant College Program to provide a unique educational experience to students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources, and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources.

She holds two master's degrees, one from her native France in agricultural engineering and Fisheries Science, and the other in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington.
