- Look at other options to Duke Energy cooling with
seawater (e.g. sewage water),
- Concerned about protecting biological resources
- Agriculture action plan should not be changed to
maintain momentum, rangeland issues are on track
- NOAA should allocate more resources towards
agricultural action plan
- MBNMS should coordinate waterway management with
other agencies and landowners
- Moss Landing dredge spoils management should be
addressed, concerned about DDT
- Spear fishing should be regulated (license for
diving)
- Increase fines for illegal spear fishing
- Need improved education about regulations
- Increase sense of personal responsibility for
resource protection
- NRCS has added staff to carry out agricultural plan,
NOAA should too
- Allocate resources for voluntary implementation
- More sea otter protection/conservation
- Stop discharges of Non Point Source/Point Source into
Bay to protect wildlife
- Regulations for commercial fishing need to protect
wildlife
- Need better enforcement of existing regulations
- Need more education on resource protection and
specific regulations
- Need study on education vs. regulation , and
determine effectiveness on changes in human behavior
- Need measurable, quantifiable outcomes not arbitrary
rules.
- Education should be prioritized over regulation of
commercial fishing
- Education should be provided in different
languages
- More enforcement and evaluation of issues where
immediate attention
- Increase public outreach about role and definition of
Sanctuary
- Develop voluntary compliance programs
- Regulate kelp harvesting differently for mechanical
versus manual
- Fish and Game should manage kelp harvesting
- Maintain vegetation in riparian corridors for
filtration
- Attention for Salinas River maintenance; vegetation
and wildlife
