Scoping Meeting Summary
Washington, DC 10:00 AM
Please note that these are the raw comments extracted
from the scoping meeting held at the location listed above.
They were edited for the purpose of clarity where necessary.
Duplicate comments were not repeted. A synthesis of comments
will be available soon.
- Implement a network of marine reserves during the
management. This should be a dual track with the state.
The National Marine Sanctuary Program should move ahead
and not wait for the end of the Marine Life Protection
Act (MLPA) process.
- If Motorized Boating is allowed in a Sancutary then
Motorized Personal Watercraft (MPW) should also be
allowed
- Environmental Studies on MPW have not been site
specific. There is a lack of current science in the
studies. New Technology in MPW is not being
considered
- There should be a more collaborative process
regarding MPW regulation similar to the Florida
Keys.
- National Marine Sanctuary Program should complete a
visitor use survey.
- There should be a marine reserve network across all
three sanctuaries. Don't wait for MLPA.
