| Nov. 14, 2009 | LiMPETS Introduction to Rocky Intertidal Monitoring on Saturday, November 14 from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm at Point Montara Lighthouse and Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, San Mateo County. Participants receive a Monitoring Handbook, learn to correctly identify algae and invertebrates, and practice the monitoring methods used in the field.

| Jan. 4, 2010 | Deadline to apply for the Papahanaumokuakea ‘Ahahui Alaka‘i (PAA). PAA is a 10-day experiential leadership program that brings together teachers, business people, policy-makers, and other community leaders interested in learning and being inspired by science and traditional knowledge management practices.

| Jan. 25, 2010 | Looking to link technology with ocean exploration and research? During this hands-on workshop, teachers build their own Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) from PVC pipe and other materials while learning about ROV technology and its use in research, monitoring and exploration of national marine sanctuaries. Application deadline to apply for the Gray's Reef ROV Workshop scheduled for February 5, 2010.

The program encourage students, teachers, schools, and communities to make a commitment to the protection and conservation of local watersheds, the world's ocean, and special ocean areas like national marine sanctuaries.

On Saturday, February 20th, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Sanctuary Office and Pier House in San Francisco, participate in an eye-opening lecture followed by hands-on plankton collection, observation and Identification.

| May 1, 2010 | Our Shifting Coastline & Local GeeWiz Geology Geology shapes the fantastic (and sometimes hazardous) features of our coast. On Saturday, May 1 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, join a local geologist for a lecture and field trip to visit some unique, geewiz geologic features along the San Mateo Coast. Meet at the Mavericks Lodge and San Mateo Coast, San Mateo County.

| June/July 2010 | This week-long teacher workshop, Rivers to Reef, led by the Georgia Aquarium and NOAA’s Grays Reef National Marine Sanctuary staff, will immerse teachers in a way like no other workshop. Teachers will wade into the watery world as they learn about watersheds, water quality, current aquatic issues and river, marsh and reef ecosystems. This workshop takes teachers from the headwaters of the Ocmulgee River to the Georgia Coast. |
| July 2010 | Explore the hidden treasures of our coast, become a junior marine scientist, and help protect our local marine sanctuaries – all in one exciting week during the 2010 Sanctuary Explorers Camp in San Francisco hosted by the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.

| 2011-2013 | Planning for the GLOBE Student Research Campaign on Climate Change will begin in January 2009, and will enlist the support of climate change scientists, science educators and educational outreach experts, as well as businesses, foundations, and policy makers. The campaign will culminate with an international student research conference in 2013.
