Donations

The donation box at Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary

NOAA has authority under section 316 of the National Marine Sanctuaries Act (NMSA) to accept donations, including in-kind services (such as professional expertise), funds (via check or equivalent instrument), tangible personal property, artifacts or museum collections, and intellectual property. Donations, if accepted, go directly toward the designation and management (including resource protection, research and monitoring, education and outreach and operations) of national marine sanctuaries. We work with the donor to appropriately acknowledge their gift, if desired. Donors who wish to support the sanctuary system can also donate to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, our primary non-profit partner.
