The system works with diverse partners and stakeholders to promote responsible, sustainable ocean uses that ensure the health of our most valued ocean places. Resources are open to the public, and showcase opportunities such as education and research to anyone who has an interest in helping our ocean.

New proposed national marine sanctuary in Lake Ontario

NOAA is considering a national marine sanctuary in eastern Lake Ontario to protect historically significant shipwrecks and related maritime heritage resources, and is holding four public meetings on the proposal.

Recreational Fishing Funding Opportunity

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, in cooperation with Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, is soliciting proposals for education, outreach, and conservation projects that forward the mission, engage the recreational fishing community, and promote sustainable recreational fishing targeting species found in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.
