NOAA Announces New National Marine Sanctuary in Lake Michigan
Preserved for centuries by the cold, fresh water of Lake Michigan, 36 historically significant shipwrecks are now protected within a new national marine sanctuary co-managed by NOAA and the state of Wisconsin.

New global partnership to elevate marine protected areas as tool in climate response
The International Partnership on Marine Protected Areas, Biodiversity and Climate Change will work with global leaders to ensure they have the information and tools needed to understand the contribution of marine protected areas, and the biodiversity they protect, as a solution in helping mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change on the global ocean.

In its nearly fifty years of operation, the National Marine Sanctuary System has regularly sought the reviews and recommendations of outside experts, including a recent review completed by the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA)
