American Union

When launched in 1862, the three-masted schooner American Union was one of the largest sailing ships to work the Great Lakes. Its career ended when it ran aground during a storm off what is now Thompson's Harbor State Park. Today, the shipwreck site is visited often by snorkelers and paddlers.
